1. The Scriptures We believe the Bible to be the inspired and authoritative Word of God. The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself. It is a treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth for its matter. In total, Scripture encompasses the whole counsel of God. Therefore, all Scripture is trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us. Therefore is, and will remain, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct should be tried. Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation. The Godhead We believe there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons-Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being. A. God the Father God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. B. God the Son Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitution death on the cross, He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man; in whom there is reconciliation between God and mankind. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all Christians as the living and ever-present Lord. C. God the Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables man to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts man of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Savior, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence within the Christian's life is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service. As such, we believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. He serves as Holy Comforter and Guide to all truth. Man We believe, Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby inherited a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Therefore, became a transgressor under condemnation. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. Therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love. We believe, Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In the broad sense, salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. A. Regeneration, or the new birth, is a work of God's grace whereby believers become new creatures in Christ Jesus. It is a change of heart wrought by the Holy Spirit through conviction of sin, to which the sinner responds in repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Repentance and faith are inseparable experiences of grace. Repentance is a genuine turning from sin toward God. Faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and commitment of the entire personality to Him as Lord and Savior. B. Justification is God's gracious and full acquittal upon principles of His righteousness of all sinners who repent and believe in Christ. Justification brings the believer unto a relationship of peace and favor with God. C. Sanctification is the experience, beginning in regeneration, by which the believer is set apart to God's purpose, and is enabled to progress toward moral and spiritual maturity through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in him. Growth in grace should continue throughout the regenerate person's life. D. Glorification is the culmination of salvation and is the final blessed and abiding state of the redeemed. God's Purpose of Grace We believe that election is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. It is consistent with the free agency of man, and comprehends all the means in connection with the end. It is the glorious display of God's sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable. It excludes boasting and promotes humility. All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, grow in grace and shall persevere to the end. Believers may fall into sin through neglect and temptation, whereby they grieve the Spirit, impair their graces and comforts, and bring reproach on the cause of Christ and temporal judgments on themselves; yet they shall be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation. THE CHURCH We believe that the local Church is an assembly of believers in a specific geographic locale. The Church is the authorized environment for spiritual growth in the Church Age. The local assembly is for the purposes of fellowship and becoming equipped to carry out the work of the ministry. (ACTS 16:5; 1 CORINTHIANS 4:17, 16:1,19; 2 CORINTHIANS 8:1; GALATIANS 1:22; EPHESIANS 4:11-13; COLOSSIANS 3:16,17; HEBREWS 10:25). Furthermore, the A. Responsibilities of Believers We believe that all believers should seek to live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Lord and Savior. It is the obligation of every believer to bear witness, by life and by word, to the truths of the Holy Scriptures. It is the responsibility of all believers to remember the work of the Lord in prayer, and to support it with their means as the Lord has prospered them (1 CORINTHIANS 16:2; ROMANS 12:1-21; EPHESIANS 4:1-3; 1 THESSALONIANS 5:11-22). B. Spirituality and Maturity We believe that spirituality is an absolute condition in the life of the believer in this dispensation, wherein he is filled, or controlled, by the Holy Spirit, walking in love and fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that spirituality is distinct from carnality, and that a believer becomes carnal through any act of mental, verbal, or overt sin, and that spirituality, or fellowship with Christ, is restored solely by personal confession of the sin to God the Father (GALATIANS 5:16; EPHESIANS 5:18; ROMANS 6:11-13; 1 JOHN 1:3,5,9; 2:2; 1 CORINTHIANS 11:30,31). Maturity, on the other hand, is a relative state which a Spirit-filled believer attains as a result of learning and applying the Word of God over a period of time (EPHESIANS 4:11,12,15; JAMES 1:2-4; 2 PETER 3:18). C. Church Ordinances We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted the Ordinances of Baptism by immersion, and the Lord's Supper (Holy Communion), both of which should be observed by all believers until His return (MATTHEW 28:19-20; 1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-26). 7. LAST THINGS We believe that the next great event in the fulfillment of prophecy will be the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, in the air, to receive to Himself the dead in Christ and believers who are alive at His coming, otherwise known as the Rapture, or Translation, of the Church (1 CORINTHIANS 15:51-57; 1 THESSALONIANS 4:13-18; TITUS 2:11-14). God, in His own time, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord. Evangelism We believe it is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and of every church of the Lord Jesus Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations. The new birth of man's spirit by God's Holy Spirit means the birth of love for others. Missionary effort on the part of all rests upon a spiritual necessity of the regenerate life, and is repeatedly commanded in the teachings of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded the preaching of the gospel to all nations. It is the duty of every child of God to seek constantly to win the lost to Christ by verbal witness and by a Christian lifestyle. Education We believe, Christianity is the faith of enlightenment and intelligence. In Jesus Christ abide all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. All sound learning is, therefore, a part of our Christian heritage. The new birth opens all human faculties and creates a thirst for knowledge. An adequate system of Christian education is necessary to a complete spiritual program for the people of God. In Christian education there should be a proper balance between academic freedom and academic responsibility. Freedom in any orderly relationship of human life is always limited and never absolute. The freedom of a teacher in a Church school & training center, Christian school, or college is limited by the pre-eminence of Jesus Christ, by the authoritative nature of the Scriptures, and by the distinct purpose for which the school exists. Stewardship We believe God is the source of all blessings. Christians have a spiritual and binding stewardship regarding their possessions. They are therefore under obligation to serve Him with their time, talents, and material possessions; and should recognize all these as entrusted to them to use for the glory of God and for helping others. The Family We believe, God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage is the uniting of man and woman in covenant commitment. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God's image. Also, marriage is God's unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God's pattern for marriage. Parents are to teach their children spiritual and moral values and to lead them, through consistent lifestyle examples and loving discipline, to make choices based on biblical truth. Children are to honor and obey their parents.
